Videolaryngoscopy

Videolaryngoscopy is a type of medical procedure that involves the use of a videolaryngoscope, a specialized instrument that allows a doctor to see the larynx (voice box) and vocal cords. This procedure is commonly used to diagnose and treat conditions that affect the larynx and vocal cords, such as vocal cord polyps, vocal cord paralysis or laryngeal cancer. Patients usually present with voice change (dysphonia) or difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia). It is used to diagnose and treat laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) as well.

The videolaryngoscope consists of a small camera that is inserted through the mouth, allowing the doctor to see the inside of the larynx on a monitor. This procedure is generally well-tolerated by patients and can provide valuable information to help diagnose and treat laryngeal conditions.
